title: AGENT - FAQ - Will I see the questions visitors ask?
category: FAQ
predicted_narrative_arc: design rationale and trade-off explanation
sentiment: neutral
emotions:
- thoughtful
- protective
keypoints:
- Conversations remain in the visitor's browser until they choose to send them
- Privacy is intentional to encourage honest, unfiltered questions
- Owners can request shares via clear calls to action before calls
- Aggregate usage data is collected without accessing conversation content
- This approach suits owners who book calls and want pre-meeting insight
summary: The FAQ explains that room owners only see visitor questions when the visitor
explicitly presses Ask or Share buttons, keeping all other conversations private
in the visitor's browser. This design choice prioritizes candor and trust by preventing
any sense of surveillance. It also notes that owners can prompt sharing directly
and that aggregate usage metrics do not involve reading content.

## Public answer

**Question people actually type:**
Will I see the questions visitors ask?

Only when a visitor chooses to send them to you. That's by design.

In your room, each visitor's conversation lives in their own browser, not in a database you browse. You see what they asked only when they press one of two buttons: **Ask [your name]**, which sends you a question, or **Share with [your name]**, which sends you the whole thread.

Why build it that way? Because privacy creates candor. People ask better, more honest questions when they know they aren't being watched. A prospect who can ask about price, doubts, or a sensitive situation without feeling observed is more likely to come back ready to talk. A room that quietly logged everything would get careful, shallow questions.

It also keeps you on the right side of trust. Visitors don't have to wonder whether their questions are being collected, sold, or used to build a profile. They aren't.

If you want to see more questions, ask for them openly. A clear call to action works well: "Share this thread with me before our call," or "If the room can't answer, press Ask and I'll reply personally." Visitors who want a direct reply can leave their email when they send a question.

This approach suits owners who book calls. A prospect who explores your room and shares the thread before a meeting arrives having already covered the basics, and you can see exactly what's on their mind.

There's one more source of insight: your own use. Ask your room the questions you hear on calls, and you'll see where the shelf is thin without needing to watch anyone.

Usage numbers are separate from content. X.ai measures overall usage for signs of abuse, without reading visitors' conversations.
